Stylistically, Roadwolf are influenced by the metal and hard rock of the late 70s and early 80s. The band members take comparisons with headliners of this era as a compliment, as their songs are complex enough not to fit into any category. Their debut "Unchain The Wolf" received considerable international feedback in 2020. Roadwolf landed in the newcomer’s TOP 3 of the Rock Hard, Metal Hammer and Deaf Forever reader’s polls. The album was well received by the leading heavy metal magazines in German-speaking countries and also found a hearing with international giants such as Classic Rock. Eclipsed Rock magazine praised the songs' energy, describing them as "brutal hits and neckbreakers."
In May 2023 the 2nd Roadwolf album “Midnight Lightning" hit the heavy metal scene with a full blast success.

From then on, the four wolves were up to mischief on stage – boosting the pack’s pulse. Whether at club gigs at home in Austria, on a Danube steamer or at festivals across Europe, from the big festival stage in the far north to the clubs in southern Spain. Roadwolf also convinced live with heavy rock, energetic riffs, virtuoso guitar solos and confidently performed vocals.

What the numerous reviews attribute to the debut album has been confirmed by the live experience: here are men whose blood tastes metallic. A band that has the art, the will and the desire to really heat up their fans and to burn themselves into their minds from the stage as well as from recordings.

Untypical song ingredients such as a harmonica or blues elements didn't slip the press, nor did the uncompromising common thread that runs through the songs of the unleashed wolves. Frontman "Franky" Bauer: "We play classic heavy metal with British or American influences, but create our very own sound. Sometimes we rub the people the wrong way, but most of them welcome the change.”
